Jonathan walked hurriedly to get home after his car broke down a mile from home. It was late, and the temperature was freezing.
“ Can you please help me ?” a man called out.
Jonathan lived in a luxurious neighborhood where most residents knew each other.
“ Are you the new buyer? Since Marie and Andrew moved out a month ago, we were all wondering who would replace them. ” Jonathan said.
“ I’ve been ringing the doorbell for over an hour, but nobody is answering,” the man replied.
“ Is there anyone inside the house?” Jonathan inquired.
“ My son Roger is inside,” the man said.
“ Look, it’s late, and the temperature is frigid. Follow me to my house, and we will figure out a way to get you inside your home,” Jonathan suggested.
“ Thank you, but all I want is to get into my home, not anywhere else,” the man said without looking at Jonathan.
“ Well, good luck,” Jonathan said as he walked away. Then he stopped, turned back, and said to the man, “Look in your pocket, you never know.”
When the man put his hand in his pocket, he found his keys.
“ Oh, I found them, thank you,” he said.
He opened the door and rushed inside.
Here he was, standing for hours in a glacial, frosty temperature in front of a door for which he had the keys. What frustration!
The moral of this sad story is that many people cry and get mad at others for something they have the answer to. How can someone be stuck in front of a door for which he has the key? The answer is ignorance. They are key holder who don’t know it. They weep, feel disappointed for something they have the solution for. They blame others for something they can solve. They even die broke and frustrated, not knowing that they have the solution to their problems inside them.
The story recounted above should concern us all. We tend to look outward for the solution that is within us. It’s time to correct that. Dear reader, you are the key holder. Likewise, every tree has fruit with a seed in it; you have within you the solution you need to make your life better. Stop looking on the outside; look at what’s on the inside. Cultivate your seed. Plant it, Water it. Make it grow. And you will see its fruits. You are the primary beneficiary of the wealth that is in you. There are gifts and creativity in you. Let them out, and your life will shine. Bury your talents and gifts, and your life will be miserable. The choice is yours. Don’t wait for men to open the doors for you when you hold the keys yourself.
You are the key holder. Remember this for the rest of your life.
